After a long day of driving, we made it to Lake Tahoe Friday night at about 5:00pm. It was pouring for about two hours when we got there, so we just hung out in the car near the lake. The rain cooled off the whole area, and it got down to 38 degrees that night.
The next morning was beautiful and we got up to explore the west side of the lake. We were camping on the northwest shore, so went south to Emerald Bay. We did the mile hike down the cliff to the beach and spent some time in Emerald Bay. The water was very refreshing and much needed.
We did our first camp cook-off that night using rules from the Food Network show, Chopped. The four ingredients we had to use were plantains, refried beans, jalapeno cheese, and a red potato. We both made fairly good appetizers but the main course left much to be desired. We called it a tie in the end. We are heading south today to Yosemite for a bit more hiking before heading down the coast.
